Enhanced Customization for Doors and Windows with Independent Hinges and Sliders
PLEASE add a better method to customize doors/windows!
Currently, the best way to make a custom functional door or window is to use the secret door, and it's super limited. While it can work very well for basic door designs, it starts to struggle if you want something larger than the door itself (image link below).
LEFT: If you try to make a tall door using the secret door, any structural or basic shape will not move with the door if it is outside of the secret door's limit (which is shorter than a normal door).
MIDDLE: If you want a double door, then you're also out of luck, as structurals dont even attach to the double secret door.
RIGHT: If you try to put two of the normal secret doors together to make a custom double door, it doesn't come out well at all. Not only is there a segment in the middle, the doors also dont even swing the right way no matter how you rotate them.
My suggestion for a fix is to create an independent "hinge" item. It'll work as something that structurals and basic shapes can attach to, and it'll be able to rotate on an axis (like hinges do ofcourse).
For windows, you can add a "slider" item that functions the same, but it moves left/right or up/down instead of rotating.
You would be able to customize how far the door can swing if you click on the hinge, and the same would go for the slider. The things on the hinge/slider would have normal door/window interactions. The things you can add on the hinge can have a limit of about 5x5 squares of space, enough for large doors while potentially(?) limiting the abuse with doors swinging out of plot bounds and on the street, which is what i assume was the reason for the secret door and bookshelf door's range limit.
