Implement Fixed Portal Locations as a Map Mechanic for Casual Gameplay
If there’s ever a SplitGate 3, consider making the game more casual friendly by leaning into your Halo roots. Make Portals a map mechanic rather than a player controlled mechanic so that it’s easier to learn. You can set portal locations around the arena that players can use to take them to different areas of the map seamlessly. This keeps the competitive element whilst making it easier to learn for casual players. You could even include temporary portal shutdowns as a way to alter map flow. And instead of jetpacks for vertical movement consider using things more predictable actions like jump pads and lifts.
