The pointer, note block, and display case all display contents that help labelling your factories, but they are not useful for navigation, since the zoom limit is fairly limited right now; they are only good for telling you what a factory does once you have already zoomed in. It would be helpful if the beams / text / items are also visible in the minimap, to easily grasp the whole world's factory layout at a glance.
