Introduce Early Branching Weapon Variety for Class Progression
I think the class weapon progression could benefit from earlier branching variety while still keeping class identity intact.
I don’t think every class should have access to every gun, because that would probably create a universal meta and make classes feel less distinct. Assault should still lean toward assault rifles and shotguns, Medic toward SMGs/support weapons, Engineer toward LMGs/shotguns/rifles, and Recon/Sniper toward sniper-style weapons.
The issue is more that early progression can feel a little too narrow. It would be nice if each class had one or two extra early side grade weapons, even if they aren’t strictly better. For example, Medic could have an earlier choice between different SMG styles, or maybe a weaker carbine option, while Assault and Engineer could unlock some shared weapons at different levels depending on class balance.
I actually like that the same weapon can unlock at different levels for different classes. That seems like a good way to preserve balance. I just think the early levels could use more variety so players can experiment sooner instead of feeling locked into one main weapon for a while.
Basically, I’m not asking for every class to use everything. I’d just like class progression to feel less linear and give players more early choices within each class’s intended weapon identity.
