Recon Support and Intel Focus with Engineer Combat Role Enhancement

Honestly this is just me, but I wish Recon got repurposed and Engi changed.

Now I know a lot of you keyboard warriors are going to say some d****** and try to be a jerk, but just be civil.

Recon feels cheap in its current form because it often becomes someone sitting hundreds of meters away using focus mode, which makes the class feel insanely powerful in a way that is more frustrating than fun. It does not really create interesting fights; it just creates situations where you die from extreme range with very little counterplay unless you swap to sniper just to deal with one person.

The class already has an extremely strong team ability with the respawn beacon, so I think Recon would feel much better if it leaned more into support and intel instead of long-range sniping. A drone, UAV, or spotting tool that helps reveal enemy positions for teammates would make Recon more useful, more team-focused, and still very powerful without relying on cheap long-range kills that hurt the flow of the game.

Engineer could then be shifted more toward an assault role, especially when the team needs direct combat strength or vehicle pressure. Right now, Engineer is serviceable, but it feels like its main purpose is reacting to tanks or attack birds. It can be strong in those situations, but outside of dealing with vehicles, it does not feel like it has a clear combat identity. The current weapons also make the class feel bad to use when options like the KLAV and other stronger weapons exist elsewhere. If the RPG and other Engineer tools were repurposed more toward direct combat, the class would feel more usable and have a real place in infantry fights.

Swapping these roles would make the overall gameplay loop feel better. Recon could shine as a real teamwork class by using intel, spotting, drones, and respawn support to help the squad. Engineer could become the more aggressive combat class with tools for pressure, vehicles, and infantry fights. That would reduce obnoxious long-range deaths, give both classes stronger identities, and make the game feel less like a 4000-meter farm fest.

And before someone says “just snipe them!” or “that is what Recon is supposed to do, DUHHH,” I get that sniping has a place. The issue is not that long-range combat exists, and it is not that snipers are completely the problem. The issue is that focus mode makes long-range play too easy and too rewarding while Recon literally has one of the best team utilities in the game. That utility often gets wasted by people playing the class like a solo sniper. Repurposing Recon would not remove skill or strategy; it would push the class toward helping the team and tying the game together instead of encouraging people to sit back and farm kills from across the map.
