Combat Bow Balancing

Since I’ve heard some people talking about how you need a solution to the Combat Bow being over powered.
I decided to put my last remaining brain cells together and present to you my idea of how to make the Combat Bow more interesting and balanced at the same time.

There are 2 main problems with the Combat bow:
The damage, and the speed.
It’s a one shot kill weapon anywhere on the body, and due to the reloading process being fairly simple, you can fire off shots faster than any other sniper in the game.

To counteract both of these problems at the same time. I came up with the idea of adding a lingering effect to the arrows.
So instead of it being a one shot kill bow, how about we make it a 2-3 shot bow on the body, and insta kill only on the head.
With the caveat being that it gives off damage over time. (So perhaps make the arrow give off small electrical shocks every 5 seconds.)
Also make it so you can now remove arrows that have been stuck in your body, either by help of a teammate (if it’s somewhere you can’t reach, like your back), or just pull it out yourself.
So when you get shot by an arrow, you will take damage till either you are low on health, or you pull the arrow out of your body.
(And for balancing reasons, don’t make the linger effect damage stack.)

This would make it significantly harder to perform pushes in close quarter combat, since you need 3 arrows to kill someone instead of 1.
It will also give a better reason for the C-Tac to exist, since it’s also an insta-kill weapon.
And it would result in some very interesting gameplay tactics.

For example: If you’ve ever gone sniping in any Vr or Non-Vr shooter game, you have most likely experienced the burden of shooting someone on the body, and before getting off your next shot, having your target hide behind cover and/or run away.
But with this new Lingering Effect, you could shoot someone once without having to worry about getting the next shot off.

So in conclusion, I personally think this would add a lot more interest in the bow, while adding some cool gameplay mechanics, and at the same time balancing it.

I hope you enjoyed reading, and I wish you a wonderful day.
