Enhanced Talon Missile System with Aim-Guided TOW Missiles and Lock-On Mechanics

Perfect rework and balance to the talon to keep it still viable but not as obnoxious.

This part is optional but I think makes the balancing work better. Add another launcher with aim-guided missiles (TOW). You have to keep them in view. Slightly slower than the talon rocket. Could also do damage to ground vehicles but less than the RPG. Think a middle ground between the talon and RPG all around. These would still notify the heli driver they are locked on as long as they are aiming their direction.

The talon can only fire when the missile is in range of the target. (can still lock on but just won’t allow fire)

In addition, there is a minimum range requirement that needs a certain distance to be able to lock on to the target or else it will not fire. Doesn’t need to be very far but kind of like how a classic javelin works in most video games. (would be cool if the firing looked like that too!!)

Most importantly, the lock on should require you to keep the target in the center of a reticle for a certain amount of time (longer than it is now eg 3 seconds) and will quickly reset the lock if you “lose your aim” on the target. This requires the user to have to use their ability to get a lock. Everything else (range, damage, speed) will stay the same. Still a fire-and-forget rocket, but just a harder time to get it started.

Pros: - More cool rockets and choices that can bridge that gap between RPG and talon.

  • more limitations on the talons use makes it not only less brainless to use (less spammy) but also more interactive.
  • It keeps the fire-and-forget part of the talon and the power of guided missiles without tanking damage, long range, or speed of the missile.
  • the minimum range change allows helicopters to rush talon users and rewards aggressiveness as long as they get real close. It’s a way to avoid without running across the map or cover in a riskier way.

Cons: - Got to code and create a new launcher along with a system that is more precise with locking on than the current talon.

  • aim-guided TOW missiles may not provide enough of a use compared to rpg or talon. It’s mainly to serve as a blended alternative. Range or speed of missile tweaks could always be implemented, however.
  • it technically could be a buff to helicopters which are already powerful as is. I personally think with the addition of aim guided TOWs.

Let me know what changes you think could make this better. I honestly think that if this was implemented the whole flying and troop anti-air experience would be better.
