Balance Adjustments for SMGs to Enhance Short-Range Combat Viability
Hello Forefront Devs! I'd like to suggest some balancing changes to the weapons of Forefront, as I feel the rifles in the game, especially the SCARRUS-H, and KLAV6 overshadow the SMGs, and LMGs. I've put a lot of thought into these suggested changes with the plan of not making the SMGs, and LMGs overall the better weapons compared to the rifles, but rather giving them a certain instance where they are better than the rifles. For example, SMGs being the better choice at short range, and LMGs having a niche use with the addition of a new mechanic, adding a bipod attachment for LMGs.

SMGs:
SG-5: 25 dmg / 900 rpm - 200ms ttk
Reduce spread by 50%
An Increase from 800rpm to 900rpm with 25 damage, and the player's base health stat of 100hp changes the "Time To Kill" from 225 milliseconds to 200 milliseconds.
Why this change?
It allows the SG-5 to be more viable compared to the rifles, (for example, the SCARRUS-H has a ttk of 200ms as well, but with higher damage at 34, and a lower rate of fire at 600rpm) this makes the SG-5 slightly better than the SCARRUS-H at close range, because of it's more forgiving higher rate of fire.
The reduction in spread by 50% less would place the SG-5's capability at range between the other SMGs, and rifles, bridging the gap between to two weapon categories.
KRAIT-V: 20 dmg / 1,250 rpm - 192ms ttk
Reduce spread by 50%
An increase from 18 damage to 20 damage, and rate of fire increase from 1,200rpm to 1,250rpm sets the KRAIT-V's time to kill from 250ms to 192ms.
Why this change?
Though the ttk is very close to the SG-5, and the higher rate of fire is more forgiving than the SG-5, but the trade off is that the KRAIT-V currently has more recoil, especially vertical recoil, and also has a lower magazine capacity.
The reduction in spread by 50% less would place the KRAIT-V's capability at range between the other SMGs, and rifles, bridging the gap between to two weapon categories.
This creates a choice between the SG-5 and KRAIT-V, to either choose the SG-5 for it's much more manageable recoil, or the KRAIT-V for it's more forgiving higher rpm.
PTT-90: 25 dmg / 1,000 rpm - 180ms ttk
Reduce spread by 20%
An increase from 20 damage to 25 damage, and rate of fire increase from 900rpm to 1,000rpm sets the PTT-90's time to kill from 267ms to 180ms.
Why this change?
With the ttk being slightly fast than the SG-5, and KRAIT-V, and on par to the KLAV6's ttk of 185ms, this makes the PTT-90 better than the rifles at short range, which it's limited to because of it's high spread, and with it's high rate of fire, and high magazine capacity, it makes the PTT-90 a well rounded SMG up close.
HELIX-19: 34 dmg / 700 rpm - 171ms ttk
Somewhat increase horizontal recoil.
Increase spread by 10%
An increase from 17 damage to 34 damage, and rate of fire decrease from 900rpm to 700rpm sets the HELIX-19's time to kill from 333ms to 171ms.
Why this change?
Originally I planned on making the HELIX more similar to my personal PTT-90 changes, but I felt like that wasn't very interesting, and this twist on making the HELIX a more aggressive, but less accurate short range SMG seemed fun. Basically turning the HELIX into a KLAV6 on steroids, with it's higher magazine capacity, slightly faster ttk at 171ms, but with the draw back of more spread than the other SMGs to keep it in its place as a short range SMG.
MC-10: 25 dmg / 1100 rpm - 164ms ttk
Slightly increase vertical recoil. Increase spread by 20%
An increase from 20 damage to 25 damage, and rate of fire decrease from 1,250rpm to 1,100rpm sets the MC-10's time to kill from 192ms to 164ms
Why this change?
To intentionally create a faster ttk than any other SMG or rifle. With it's forgiving rpm of 1,100, and ttk at 164ms, but the down side of a 20% spread increase. It would be the best weapon at short range, but inferior beyond that range.
