Steps to Reproduce
- Open the game.
- In main menu select "PLAY".
- Select "SURVIVOR".
- Select "LOADOUT".
- Equip any med-kit in the "ITEM" slot.
- Select any "ADD-ON" slot.
- Hover your cursor over the "SPONGE" add-on and read the description.
- Hover your cursor over the "RUBBER GLOVES" add-on and read the description.
- Select the "SETTTINGS" menu at the bottom of the screen (the gear icon).
- Swich your language to "РУССКИЙ".
- Relaunch the game and repeat the process.
- Fix the localisations :)
Explanation
Incorrect Rubber Gloves and Sponge add-on descriptions in English and Russian localisations.
Rubber Gloves and Sponge add-on descriptions for the Med-kit item in English localisation state that they increase "Bonus skill check size", which I believe to be an outdated item description because there are no other items or perks that use the "Bonus skill check" wording. Instead, "Bonus skill check" is now referred to as a "Great Skill Check".
All that said, the correct Sponge add-on description in English localisation should state "Increases the Success zone for Great Healing Skill Checks by 20%."/"Increases the Great Skill Check Success zone size by 20%.". While the correct Rubber Gloves add-on description should be as follows: "Increases the Success zone for Great Healing Skill Checks by 10%."/"Increases the Great Skill Check Success zone size by 10%.".
That is not all, however. In Russian localisation the add-on descriptions state that they increase "бонус прогресса за проверки реакции" (which can be translated as "skill check progression bonus"). That is factually incorrect because these two add-ons do not affect Skill Check progression bonus in any way. The only thing these add-ons change is the Great Skill Check zone SIZE (I personally tested that). Needless to say, this incorrect description greatly misleads players who are using Russian localisation.
The correct Sponge add-on description in Russian localisation should state "Увеличивает зону успешной отличной проверки реакции во время лечения на 20%"/"Увеличивает размер успешной отличной проверки реакции на 20%." While the correct Rubber Gloves add-on description should be as follows: "Увеличивает зону успешной отличной проверки реакции во время лечения на 10%"/"Увеличивает размер успешной отличной проверки реакции на 10%.".
This issue may also be present in other localizations; however, I am lacking language skills to confirm that.
I cannot pinpoint the exact version of the game in which this problem appeared, but it is still present in 10.0.2.
In my opinion, items', add-ons', and perks' descriptions need a huge rework because some of them seem really outdated compared to the more recent ones. A great example of that is the perk called "This Is Not Happening" ("Этому Не Бывать") in the Russian localisation. The description format seems really old—see it for yourself.
Moreover, the description format is not unified among all languages. In English localisation, for example, some key words in descriptions begin with capital letters for convenience. For example: "Great Skill Check". In Russian, for some reason, they do not: "отличная проверка реакции".
