Explanation
In gauntlet, I had an artefact enemy and when I deposited the core I could instantly upgrade (although it should have only been possible during the elevator ride).
In the elevator there was also a biobooster, but I couldn't accept it, pressing E while choosing didn't give it to me as usualy
